Now We’re Flying!!!

Our industry is attracting professionals from all areas.  And why not?  It is an industry that requires no or low overhead, no or low inventory, no boss, no territories, no student loans – you know, you know.  Here is an amazing woman  – mom, wife, friend, real estate professional and flies the friendly skies.  And guess what – she is also a network marketer.  Read between the lines on this one everybody.  The woman will be financially free in 2010.  This is very powerful and inspiring.  Thanks, Joanne, for all you do.  You are certainly an asset to our team.

Plane Wealthy

Since the day I was born I was meant to travel.  My dad was the original, stereotypical tourist – camera dangling around his neck, map in one hand, my brother and I holding on to the other hand, while my mother was by our side turning heads with her jet black hair and her 1960-style glamor. I loved it, and I couldn’t wait to the following weekend where we would visit places like , Washington DC or Williamsburg, Virginia. But there was always those two weeks a year when we would go for the big vacation. We would all climb into the Gold 1966 Chevrolet for our road trip to Florida! My brother and I fighting in the back seat amongst the pillows, blankets, and packed lunches. Our parents threatening to pull over and give us a good smack. And then there was always the games, like counting all the red cars or playing “Slug Bug”. We always knew we were half way there when we hit the big tourist attraction “South of the Border” a complete of tourist knickknacks filled with ashtrays, shot glasses, and all kinds of doodads.

Joanne and her Dad on a flight to London

Joanne and her Dad on a flight to London

It is by no accident I became a Flight attendant for a major airline. Travel was in my blood, but now I wanted to see and feel more exotic destinations – Russia, Finland, Japan to name a few. How glamorous I would be! Traipsing though the airport with my crisp uniform, handsome pilots standing next to me.Just like a scene right out of the movie “Catch me if you can”.

But reality sunk in fast. The glamor? I would think about it every time someone would hand me a snotty tissue or a dirty diaper while I’m serving them dinner. Or when I would be down on the floor jamming dirty meal trays into a cart, spilling other peoples’ dinner on my uniform. The delays, the jet lag, and let’s not forget the smoking flights. All this havoc would miraculously leave my thoughts when I hit my layover destination and have dinner beneath the Eiffel Tower or throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain.

But the last wish I had as I was throwing a coin into one of the many fountains of the world was for residual income. I was done; I didn’t want to sacrifice anymore. I wanted to enjoy all this without having to leave my family behind for 3 to 4 days at a time. I didn’t want to wait on the people in the first class seats. I wanted to be in the first class seats sipping on the finest wine with my husband right next to me. I didn’t want to trade my time for money anymore. I wanted to give my time to my family and charitable causes. It was starting to take its toll.

Well as we all know from the story above, what you think about you bring about. So it is by no accident I met entrepreneur and Success Guru Drew Berman. Drew introduced me to the world of residual income. Residual income through network marketing is the new paradigm of the 21st century. The only industry that creates the most millionaires. It is because of my relationship with this leader of leaders who has the experience to turn dreams into reality, that my dream is finally coming true. 2010 I will have the financial freedom to travel the beaches of the world with my family and will finally be in that first class seat next to my husband. Dom Perignon please!

Thanks, Drew!

So, if there is one book in the entire universe that everyone should read YESTERDAY, it’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T Kiyosaki.  Not only should you read and re-read it a few times, it is your obligation as a parent, friend, , etc… to share it with everyone you love.  As a parent, if you do not share this book with your children you may be setting them up for financial failure!!!  They will learn more about life and money in this book than they will learn in any school or college.  So how many of you are financially where you want to be on a scale of 1-10 ,10 being the highest?  Come on, be 100% honest here.  If you are in a JOB (just over broke), then you fit into the poor and middle class work-for-money category.  If you are at a 10 or above on your financial scale, then you are rich, and you have your money work for you!  Hmmmmm, could you have hit me over the head with that about 20 years ago????  Shoulda, coulda, woulda…. WILL!!!!  I guess the saying “When the teacher appears, the student is ready” applies here and now.

One A-HA moment from this book:  a JOB is really a short-term solution to a long-term problem.  Most continue working for two reasons:  self inflicted fear and ignorance.  Learn to USE your emotions to THINK, not THINK with your emotions.  Opportunities are ALWAYS in front of you.  Most people never see opportunities because they are too busy looking for money and security, ultimately at a mediocre level at best.  Unfortunately, they get what they think is money and security but they never see the opportunity that could land them MONEY and SECURITY!  The moment you see ONE opportunity you will see them for the rest of your life!

As Robert Kiyosaki states in his book “Rich people aquire assets. The poor people aquire liabilites, but think they are assets.”   HMMMMM… Use your emotions to THINK about that for a minute or two.

My biggest A-HA:  avoidance.  I have kept myself soooo busy trying to avoid the reality of fianancial issues.  calls it the most common form of “laziness”.  Laziness by staying busy…. HMMMMM.  Not any more, baby!  My busy, lazy schedule is now busy – asset aquiring, liability reducing busy!!!!

Oh yeah, you HAVE TO have a bigger reason than your current reality.  If not, don’t waste your lazy, busy self.  Time to buy the book and READ IT!!!

Who Ya Gonna Call? – Your
Whether you are brand new to your Network-Marketing business (which, by the way, I am now referring to as Relationship-Marketing), or an experienced veteran of the industry, your Names List is a vital tool to help you to start or expand your business. Most Relationship- will suggest that you write down a list of all the people that you know and will give you memory joggers to help you; who do buy your dry cleaning from, who does your accounting work, who do you know at church? If you have your “new distributors” manual or starting pack, you are familiar with the approach.

However, many people new to the business get confused because within this List there are many different categories of people. And each one of those people needs to be approached in a slightly different way depending on the relationship that you have with each person. The way that you would approach your own brother is different from the way you would approach your dry cleaner. It might be very awkward to say to your dry cleaner, “I recently found a product or service that changed my life and I want to share it with you. When could you invite me over for coffee to meet with you and your wife?” Now, this approach might be perfect to use with a close friend but your dry cleaner is going to think you are some kind of weirdo! (especially if you live in downtown Manhattan).

Making your Names List or helping your distributors to make the List in categories will help the process to move along faster and will provide more clarity for your “newbie.” Consider the following categories when you are making a Names List.

  1. Family – These are immediate family like mother, father, brothers, sisters and aunts and uncles. Just people you are close to – not long lost cousins you haven’t talked to in twenty years.
  2. Close Friends – These are people that you would feel comfortable inviting to a family oriented gathering like a christening, confirmation or a child’s birthday party.
  3. Organization Friends – These are people that you are associated with because of groups that you belong to. They include people that you know from church, PTA, your kid’s sports games, civic organizations etc.
  4. Work Friends – These are people that you work with, work for you or you work for them. You may be close to some of them and some of them may be casual acquaintances for you but your connection to them is your work relationship.
  5. Work Related Acquaintances – These are people that you know because of your work. They could be vendors, customers, service people, delivery people etc. They range from the copier repair person to the salesperson who comes in once a month to meet with your boss.
  6. People You Buy from Outside Your Home – These are people that you buy from on a daily basis. They include your dry cleaner, florist, shipping, your convenience store person, your lunch counter person etc.
  7. People You Buy from for your Home – You have all kinds of people that you invite into your home to sell you or service things. They include pest control, lawn care, repair people, delivery people and service people like a carpenter or electrician.
  8. New People that you will meet – Now that you have a new business meeting new people will become important. You will start seeing people as possible prospects for products or your opportunity.

Did you realize that there were so many different categories? Probably not. Just the act of focusing on these various ways that you know people will start to jump- start your memory and will automatically increase the number of people on your Names List! You can also see the value of each category because it becomes clear to you that each category will need to be approached in a unique way. More about how to make the approach in another blog.

Feeling Empowered….

These are the words from one of my mentors, Patricia Moreno.  She is brilliant, gorgeous, and has created a program that combines breath, spirit, affirmations, and exercise.  Get to know her if you can.  Tell her I recommended her.  She ROCKS!!!

When was the last time you caught yourself in the middle of a negative thought or mood but successfully shifted your perspective? Did you feel empowered? Claiming our power to choose what and how we think is a key step on your personal path to .

I chose the theme of empowerment this month in order to help us all look honestly at the areas of our lives in which we are giving up our power. Anytime we allow ourselves to feel victimized by another person or by a set of circumstances, we are deflating our .

We often forget that we ALWAYS possess the unique power to make a deliberate and positive shift in perspective. Being empowered means feeling passionate, strong, confident, and at peace. When we feel this way, we know that life is not happening to us, but that we are the masters of our fate.

The intenSati method teaches us to claim our power consciously in order to promote our best and well-being. With every such deliberate choice, we feel more and more empowered.

The question is, will you train yourself to make the choices that best support your health, well-being, and ? Try walking around for a few days feeling strong, confident, and happy, believing that life is good, and that every challenge is actually presenting itself for our benefit. Such radiates, and the world will seem to open up in ways we couldn’t have imagined.

We may not be able to immediately change the concrete circumstances of our lives, but we can always change our perceptions and reactions… and in that choice lies the opportunity to lead an empowered life.

Know that the challenges we face are all perfectly placed for us to gain greater strength.

Love,
Patricia
