It is natural to feel blue – having a low emotional vibration – from time to time. There are a number of reasons for this and this is not to minimize those feelings. It’s easy to get lost in the emotional vibrations that exist around us and be easily consumed by it. Understand, however, that you can control how you are feeling and you can change that feeling of emptiness by, first, being aware of your emotional state and, second, changing it.
I recently read a blog by Sherry Rogers that suggested that by identifying the thoughts that are creating a certain level of feeling – good or bad – they can be recalled and replaced. Some people find that in playing a certain song when they’re feeling down, they relive happy thoughts from days gone by and that, indeed, lifts their spirits. This is a perfect example of how thoughts can improve your emotional vibration. The same can be achieved by watching a movie, smelling a fresh-baked apple pie, recalling the feelings associated to a success, the birth of a child/children, or even a simple, happy time. The trigger is less important than the associated thoughts and feelings.
Here is an emotional scale, as provided by Sherry, ranging from positive to negative vibrations:
- Joy/Knowledge/Empowerment/Freedom/Love/Appreciation
- Passion
- Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
- Positive Expectation/Belief
- Optimism
- Hopefulness
- Contentment
- Boredom
- Pessimism
- Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
- Overwhelm
- Disappointment
- Doubt
- Worry
- Blame
- Discouragement
- Anger
- Sadness
- Depression
Think about things that bring you high vibrational feelings. Remember that others can feel your happiness, in person, on the phone, and even in an email. Close your eyes and internalize these thoughts and the associated feeling so you can recall them at a later time. It’s powerful to be able to achieve this transformation as you progress up the emotional scale. Please share those happy moments that you recall to brighten your day.
