Web Copywriting

Web copywriting is the art of persuasion on the Internet. Typically the goal in persuasion is to encourage a purchase. The more the purchase decision is based on emotional triggers and connections, the more likely the purchase will be made. Justification for the purchase, on the other hand, can be emotional or logical — doesn’t matter. The typical emotional motivators are promise of gain and avoidance of pain. Master these concepts and you can write your own paycheck.

There are 4 essential elements of good web copywriting

In order to introduce your pitch, you need to follow some basic rules and answer the following questions. Without these answered, in order, you will simply confuse your prospect and watch them as they click off to your competitor’s site.

1. Who are you?
2. What do you have?
3. Why does your prospect need it?
4. How can your prospect get it?

Sounds pretty straight forward, right? Well, unfortunately, this is just a cold list and, of course, nobody will buy emotionally from this. The next concept is paramount and will make or break your web copywriting endeavor.

Web Copywriting Takes Your Prospect Through An Experience

As a web copywriter, you need to walk your prospect through an emotional experience where they quickly convince themselves that what you have is what they want and need, that you are the leader that they want to work with, and that they need to take action now. To do this,

1. Establish the problem: Get the prospect to feel their pain. Remind them.
2. Provide the solution: Describe features and benefits that are specifically tailored to the aforementioned problem. People don’t buy things for what they are, they buy things for what they do.
3. Offer credentials: Satisfy your prospects emotions — instill trust and confidence — in that they will be working with and buying from the best (you!). In fact, show them how they’re getting a deal. Add the element of fear that they may actually lose out if they don’t act now. Finally, don’t forget the testimonials.
4. Offer guarantees: Build in fear that they might get ripped off elsewhere. If you lower their guard with you, the prospect will feel that they have nothing to lose in working with you.
5. Tell them to take action now: A prospect that sits on the fence is as good as useless. Kick your prospect off the fence through takeaways, disqualifiers, deadlines, or scarcity, where appropriate.

No product sells itself. With web copywriting, it’s imperative that you work your prospect’s emotions through emotional triggers — guilt, logic, fear, and desire. Write like you’re speaking to a single prospect and use language that isn’t stuffy but isn’t too slang either. Speak to your market! If you’re selling a rap artist you’d likely use different language as compared to selling a financial product.

Most importantly, forget perfectionism and have fun with web copywriting.

I know this was only a brief glimpse into a topic that take gurus years to perfect. However, follow these concepts and you’re well on the way to explode your business.

One last point, though these concepts are specific to web copywriting, with minor modifications, this will work offline just the same!

Mike Dillard has become one of the icons in the world of internet marketing. He is an introverted, self-effacing man with a tell-it-like-it-is attitude. He is not one to take the spotlight, surprisingly with all of his amazing success and name recognition, and he has little patience for mainstream business practices and policies. These are some of the reasons why Mike began his Magnetic Sponsoring business on the internet and has built it into a hugely successful and booming business.

Mike Dillard‘s MLM Success

While Mike has proven, over and over again, that the principles of Magnetic Sponsoring work, he is still burning with passion about what to do with his self-built fame and fortune. He readily admits that he has no idea of how to invest and build wealth. He knows how to generate cashflow and make money, but not what to do with it. It seems that Mike has discovered his newest passion and he wants to concentrate on it.

Mike Dillard‘s Next Chapter

Mike Dillard has a new company. It is called TheElevationGroup.net. Right now he is fired up and angry about the attitudes and practices of the financial advisory world and he has decided to do something about it. He wants to learn how to invest and grow his money, and he wants to share it with a select group of people. Right now, it is by invitation, but it will become public after this proof-of-concept beta testing period. Hang in there and stay tuned. He has the Midas Touch when it comes to creating cashflow. Let’s see how he learns a new business model and enjoy the ride as he takes us along with him.

Was Mike Dillard Unprepared?

Catchy title, but no. Unlike most of the speakers, Mike Dillard took the stage without a prepared presentation but he knew exactly what he was doing. He started by talking a bit about his down-to-earth, hold-nothing-back approach to writing copy for his ads and content. I have been on the receiving end of it and sometimes it can cause some raised eyebrows, but that is Mike’s point – to be real in this world. With that in mind, he proceeded to do something that I have never seen anyone in this industry do. He sat down on a stool with a microphone and invited the event participants to step up to mics and ask any question that they wanted answered.

Mike Dillard Totally Winging It?!

Again, following Mike Dillard‘s tutelage, this title engages YOU, the reader. Anyway, it is one thing to give a canned speech, with props or without, but to wing it in front of one thousand people, that was amazing. Yet, with his incredible way of thinking outside of normal boundaries, he came up with suggestions for people trying to build businesses that were extremely thought-provoking and could very well lead to new successes in fields that he, self-professed, knows nothing about. No wonder Mike Dillard is such a success in the Law of Attraction and bringing people to him for teaching, mentoring and learning life skills. So, when it comes to network marketing, or any marketing for that matter, the techniques that Mike Dillard teaches can help anyone who is open and ready.

We all know that MLM events are key to being successful in the network marketing industry, as well as just about every other industry out there, but what exactly is it about an MLM event that makes it so important? That’s a great question! Not only are the latest strategies, products, and trade secrets shared but the more qualitative aspects abound as well — putting names to faces, building or rekindling relationships, networking with like-minded folks, and adding pictures of you and industry leaders to your portfolio! Attending an MLM event could be the defining moment between your business going through the roof or into the ground!

The MLM Event Strategy

Once you get to an MLM event, you need a strategy. What do you wish to learn? Who do you want to meet? Who wants to meet you? How will you make a lasting impression? The list goes on. Check out this video I cut recently at the No Excuses Summit MLM event in Las Vegas, NV. I share a millionaire secret tip for working MLM events.

But … I can’t make it to that MLM event…!

Now, you may hear all sorts of excuses as to why someone can’t go to any specific MLM event — “not enough time,” not enough money,” and “I’m just not all that interested.” Wait, aren’t these the objections in sales that we, in the network marketing industry, deal with day in and day out? The irony! The fact of the matter is that nobody can and be expected to attend every event that exists in their industry. It’s important to assess each individual one based on perceived value and measure that against one’s ability to handle their personal responsibilities. Everyone knows the scary “personal responsibilities” part but the most often overlooked component here the assessment of “perceived value”. In most cases, take your perceived value and multiply it by 10. If you’re even considering going to an event — and taking the time to assess — it’s more than likely to be far more valuable for you to attend than to not attend. It’s as simple as that. Just go!

As you may know, there is a mega marketing event coming up quickly. It’s in Las Vegas and it boasts the best of the best — 20 or so of them anyway — that the Network Marketing Industry has to offer today. In celebration of this event, we are putting together a write-up — an MLM review, if you will — of each of the speakers. We hope you thoroughly enjoy these perspectives. Mike Dillard was waiting tables when he decided there had to be a better way to build a future. He had thought about becoming a biologist when he started college until his partying took the life out of his college career, so he bagged that and changed to marketing. He knew from his early years in college, however, that he wanted to be an entrepreneur, not a corporate ladder-climber. His real education came through sitting in a well-known bookstore and studying the books there. He left college with a 2.0 average…just by the skin of his teeth. However, he knew more about marketing and the way to think for success than any of his school-mates.

Mike packed up and moved out west to work with an acquaintance who was in a very successful network marketing company. Then 9-11 happened and he turned around and went back to Texas for a J*O*B. It was at this new job that he learned how to make cold calls and work lists on the phone – a great skill for a network marketer-to-be to learn – but he hated it. From there he went into direct, door-to-door, corporate sales. Ouch! From these wonderful jobs he went to waiting tables while starting to build his MLM downline for his passive income business.

The Magnetic Sponsoring series began as a training manual for his MLM downline, which became more and more popular with leaders in other companies. Now it is a manifesto for success in the internet marketing world.

To summarize this MLM review, Mike Dillard is an engaging and very real person who learned by going through the grind and finding the steps it takes for success. He has gone on to create the Black Belt Recruiting series, the Traffic Formula series, and the What’s Working Now? series, among others and all are excellent resources.

When I began in MLM under the leadership of Drew Berman and was at ground zero on learning about network marketing, Drew strongly recommended that I start by viewing Mike Dillard’s 7-Video Series on Attraction Marketing…and so I did. Though this is not a perspective of a company in the MLM space, my MLM Review of this fantastic tool set follows.

Mike Dillard is an expert in direct marketing and MLM training who runs a multi-million dollar business by implementing what he refers to as Magnetic Sponsoring techniques.

His main philosophy is that the “old school” of sponsoring/recruiting, such as creating a list of friends and family and cold calling prospects, are no longer effective and should be replaced with the “new school” techniques which take advantage of what the internet world has to offer. He claims that these techniques will ATTRACT an endless stream of leads which will be seeking you and anxious to sign up with your company regardless of your product – hence, the Attraction Marketing concept. In the words of Mike Dillard, you will become the “Hunted not the Hunter”.

I found that each video left me with a sense of eagerness and anticipation for the next one. On average each video was 8 minutes long.
